    PIZITZ STUDENTS SHOOT HOOPS FOR THEIR HEARTS AND HELP SAVE LIVES

    Pizitz will host our Hoops for Heart basketball tournament and New Hot Shot contest event this week (1/30-2/3) to raise money for the American Heart Association. Money can be donated online or by bringing in a check made to the AHA. 

    To raise money online go to www.heart.org/hoops

     -on the left hand side- select Alabama,

                                       -select Vestavia Hills

                                       -then select Louis Pizitz as our school

    Click join team- when registering online, instead of putting a teacher’s name, list/type out your class period. This will help us sort and manage your team to make sure the points are going to you. By going online, friends and family can make donations easier via the web.

    We will also be accepting cash/checks (make checks out to American Heart Association)

     

    Attention students: If you would like to sign up for SPEECH class, email or go see Mrs. Coppock or Mrs. Brogan. This class will meet during 8th period for the FOURTH nine weeks. Mrs. Brogan will teach this class. Deadline to sign up is Friday, February 3rd.

     

    LifeSouth Blood Mobile will be here in the front parking lot next Tuesday, February 7.  Incentive:  the homeroom with the most donors will receive a pizza party from LifeSouth.  Tell parents, family, friends, neighbors, etc., to donate blood and give your name so you can get points for your homeroom

     

    Pizitz is raising money to support Vestavia Hills Relay for Life.  Long and short sleeve tee shirts as well as sweat shirts are available.  All sales are on line and fliers are out around the school.  Please pitch in, buy a shirt and help support Relay for Life.

    PITCH IN at PIZITZ starts next Monday, February 6!

    Last year, Pizitz raised $1,767 in one week.  This year, our goal is to raise $2,000!   If we reach our goal,IRONSTONE PIZZAWORKS will give EVERY student a free pizza!  And, the students in the grade that raises the most money will win a FREE POPSICLE from BRUSTER’S!  Will you PITCH IN so every student can WIN?  Questions?  Deborah Newsom, deborah3528@att.net, http://vestaviafoundation.org/giving/

     

    SAVE THE DATE for “PITCH IN" at Pizitz, February 6 – 10

    Start saving your loose change today and get ready to fill up your grade’s “Pitch In” cans!  Every morning, students will have an opportunity to PITCH IN loose change, bills, pledge payments or new pledges into their grade’s “Pitch In” can.   Let’s all PITCH IN and see if we can beat our last year’s total of $1767!

    Congrats to the 7th grade boys who beat Simmons and play Bumpus today at 5:15 at Liberty Park. Congrats to the 8th grade boys who beat Thompson and play Hewitt today at 4:00 at Bragg. Go Pirates!!!

    Congrats to the 7th & 8th grade girls for their wins yesterday.

    7th grade plays Simmons @ Oak Mountain @ 5:45 today.

    Any 7th or 8th grade boy interested in trying out for the Boys’ Golf Team needs to come by Room 202, Coach Prewitt’s Room, and sign-up.  There will be a mandatory meeting on TODAY (February 1st) for everyone who signs up.

     

    Any 8th grade girl interested in trying out for volleyball at the high school needs to attend an informational meeting during 4b (Homeroom) Tuesday February 7th with Coach Burgess in the back gym.  Important information can also be found on our athletic website:

    VHHS Curriculum Fair/Course Selection Meeting

    Tuesday, February 21, 2017  5:30pm-7:30pm

    5:30pm-6:30pm VHHS Curriculum Fair (Practice Gym)

    During this time, parents are able to meet and ask questions of VHHS academic, athletic and extracurricular representatives.  Come and learn more about Career Tech, Robotics, Math Team, Debate Team, Band, Athletics, Dance Teams, Cheerleaders, Drama, Art, Choir, Yearbook Staff, Newspaper Staff, SGA, VHHS Clubs and the many other extracurricular opportunities available.  Come see how your child can get involved at VHHS!

    6:30pm-7:30pm Course Selection Meeting (Auditorium)

    Information on Course Selection cards will be presented by our VHHS Administrators and Guidance Department.  This will be the same information given to your student at school.

    Enter through the front doors.  VHHS Ambassadors will be available to direct you to the proper locations.  We look forward to seeing you.

     

    VHCS EXTENDED DAY PROGRAM:

    EDP Summer Camp 2017 - Registration will open January 20th, 2017

    Eligibility -          Must be enrolled in the Vestavia Hills School System

    Must have completed Kindergarten -6th grades

    Program Dates - Monday June 5th, 2017 through Friday July 28th, 2017 (closed July 4th)

    Fees - One time Registration Fee - $100 (per family) – Cash or check

    Registration Fees:  Fees include all activities, snacks, supplies and trip fees

    Full Day - $150 per week

    Multi-Child Discount for Full Day Session

    2nd Child -$140 per week (1st child is still $150)

    3rd Child - $130 per week (1st child is still $150, and 2nd child is still $140)

    Make checks payable to Vestavia Hills EDP (regardless of location)

    We will have camps at the following locations:

    •      Central EDP for children who have finished K-2
    •      Liberty Park for children who have completed grades K-6
    •      Pizitz Middle School for children who have completed grades 3-6
    •      Spots will be limited to 75 per site.

    Children will be enrolled on a first come first served basis.

    Morning hours will be academically based.  Students will participate in experiences and field trips that will strengthen academic thought and processes that will avoid any summer slump.  Children will have time for self-discovery, sharing with adults and peer groups, making creative choices, free time and other opportunities for exploration and community outreach.  Nancy English, instructional coach at Liberty Park Elementary, and Celia Stewart, gifted instructor at Cahaba Heights Elementary, will develop the academic portion of our camp.

    You may complete forms and submit with your registration fee of $100 per family to hold your spot.  Registration Fees include the pool at Wald Park, snacks, supplies, and any field trip fees.  Please fill out separate registration forms for multiple children.  

    Early registration is recommended to avoid missing out!
